Matt Tinnell

Matt Tinnell is a native of Duluth, Georgia and received his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Georgia in Athens. Currently he is the Assistant Band Director at Jackson County High School. Students under Mr. Tinnell’s direction have been selected to perform with some of the most elite state and national performing ensembles, including the Georgia All-State Band, the Georgia All-State Jazz Band, The University of Georgia , The University of Alabama, Georgia Tech Institute and Technology, Georgia Southern University, The Cadets, The Cavaliers, Phantom Regiment, Spirit of Atlanta, and Music City Mystique.

Mr. Tinnell has earned several awards and honors throughout his college and professional career including “Teacher of the Year” at Winn Holt Elementary School in Gwinnett County. Since 1995, Mr. Tinnell has been a performer, adjudicator, and educator in the WGI, Drum Corps International, and High School Band circuits. His professional affiliations include the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA), and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS).

Mr. Tinnell resides in Jefferson, GA with his wife, Amy, their two children, Alex and Lora, and their four dogs, Spaz, Owen, Penelope Grace, and Appa.
